The “soup sandwiches” line used in the opening moments proves they did their homework as it’s a very common phrase with servicemembers indicating something is all kinds of messed up. It does offer an easy-to-absorb science-based take on the genre, and the attention to detail in regards to the military aspect of the film is impressive, adding significant value to the overall experience. The film isn’t without its flaws but is nowhere near as bad as most people are saying.īloodshot isn’t quite to the standard set by superhero films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but is exceedingly better than most films in the DCEU. The trailers for Bloodshot, the film based on the Valiant comic book character of the same name, paints the film to look like a throw-away B-movie when in fact, it offers up everything moviegoers would expect from a film with action star Vin diesel leading the way. These unfortunate circumstances have sadly eclipsed one very solid action flick that fans of the actor, genre, or source material should not sleep on. With the state of the world as it is, the box office weekend Bloodshot chose to make its triumphant debut was marred by chaos and some of the lowest numbers the industry has seen in almost two decades. Vin Diesel takes a break from his many other franchises and attempts to kickstart a sci-fi superhero series of films where he would be the focal point.
